Fish and chips is a hot dish consisting of fried fish served with chips. This is the origin of England and very much around the world. Fish and chips is a common take-away food in the United Kingdom and numerous other countries, particularly in English-speaking and Commonwealth nations.
Traditionally, cod and haddock, are used to make fish and chips.Of these, cod is by far the most popular. But the choice of fish totally depends upon your choice and the availability on your local market. I suggest using flat white fish fillet. For my fish and chips recipe I had used sole.
A portion of fish and chips is a nutritionally rich meal including protein, carbohydrate, vitamins B6 and B12, vitamin C, iron, calcium, phosphorus, as well as trace elements iodine, fluorine, zinc and dietary fibre.
For me Fish and chips is a perfect comfort food. You can prepare it at home within no time and present a splendid dinner to your guest.

Ingredients
- Sole fillets – 1 no
- Vegetable oil – for frying
- Flour – 1 cup
- Egg (beaten) : 2 no
- English mustard – 1 teaspoon
- Lemon juice – 2 teaspoon
- Parsley (chopped) – 1/4 cup
- Salt – to taste
- Black pepper – to taste
- Bread crumb – 1 cup
- French fries – 1 cup
- Dill leaves (chopped) – 1/4 cup
Method
- Cut the fish fillets in thick strips.
- Whisk together flour, salt, black pepper,egg, lemon juice, parsley,dill leaves and mustard in a bowl. Mix properly. Adjust the seasoning.
- You can increase or decrease the lemon juice as per the taste.
- Marinate the fish properly and keep it aside for a minimum 30 mins.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat..
- Coat the breadcrumb properly on the fish. Give the fish a smooth shape .
- Fry the fish until golden brown and crispy.
- Fry the french fries until crispy and golden.
- Remove the excess oil of fish and french fry with the help of a kitchen towel.
- Serve the fish and chips with tartar sauce. Garnish with lemon wedges.
