Samai Millet Upma Little Millet Upma

Ingredients

  1. Little millet /samai , soaked overnight1/2 cup       
  2. Water – 1 cup       
  3. Onion, chopped1 tbsp
  4. Mixed Vegetables (beans,Carrot,Peas,Capsicum)diced – 1/2 cup.       
  5. Coriander leaves, chopped – 1 tbsp
  6. Lemon juice – to taste    
  7. Salt – to taste.       
  8. Mustard seed – 1/2 tsp
  9. Jeera – 1/2 tsp
  10. Hinga pinch   
  11. Green chilies, chopped – 1 tsp
  12. Ginger grated – 1 tsp
  13. Curry leaves – a few     
  14. Desi ghee – 2 tbsp

Method

  1. Wash Little Millet and cook until soft.
  2. Heat ghee in a pan, add the mustard seeds and jeera, let them splutter. Add hing, green chilies, ginger, curry leaves, and saute for a few seconds.
  3. Add onion and saute till the onion turns slightly brown in color. Add diced mixed vegetables, millet, water, salt and mix well. Adjust seasoning.
  4. Cook on a slow flame . Finish with coriander leaves, lime juice and mix well. Serve hot with coconut chutney.
